This project was developed together with the Board of Directors of the Community and the JASS of Ocobamba, with which we seek to ensure its sustainability.
Through joint and articulated work between the authorities of the Peasant Community of Ocobamba – located in the District of Córdova, Province of Huaytará, in Huancavelica -, the Water Management Board of Ocobamba and Sierra Antapite, the works of the “Improvement of the Water System for Human Consumption of the CC de Ocobamba, Toma Chacacha”, which directly benefit more than 120 communal families and 600 people indirectly. These works will make it possible to have an infrastructure that guarantees the sustainability of access to drinking water, permanently and cleanly, even in times when there is no rain.
The implementation of this project, financed in its entirety by Sierra Antapite and executed by a local company, represents the fulfillment of the agreement reached with the Community, and has an important degree of sustainability, since from it, the strengthening of the JASS of Ocobamba, to manage the proper functioning of the system, safeguarding the health and well-being of community users.
The works implemented included the construction of an intake in the Chacacha Sector, as well as the laying of a pipeline of more than 4 km, with adequate material for the characteristics of the land. Likewise, the construction of two sand traps was developed, with the objective of purifying the water that enters the reservoir without contaminants, with their respective concrete covers. Finally, the project includes 5 control boxes, 8 purge valves and the provision of conduction lines as a feeder for consumption in the houses surrounding the passage of the pipeline. The authorities of the Board of Directors of the Community of Ocobamba, the directors of the JASS Ocobamba, beneficiaries and the representation of Sierra Antapite were present at the delivery ceremony. We will continue to work together for local sustainable development.
